NordicTrack Commercial 2950

Easy, convenient and accessible whatever the weather, a good home treadmill can transform your workouts – whether you’re looking to smash a PB or just burn through some calories. Yes, you could just lace up your running shoes and leave the house, but what if you missed something on TV, or were caught in a shower, or got spotted by the cool kids?

So it’s probably for the best if you just invest in one of the latest space-saving home hamster-wheels and get your fit on without braving the outdoors.

TREAD SET ON DISTRACTION

The NordicTrack 2950 is a premium treadmill with an excellent design, wide belt size, supreme cushioning, and a vast range of features to keep newbies and dedicated runners happy.

It’s a bit of a monster but if you’ve got the space – and cash – you won’t regret investing in this gym-quality running machine. It has a brilliantly versatile decline/incline range of -3 to 15%, powered by a strong but quiet motor. Motivation comes via the 22in HD touchscreen with simple controls and over 16,000 on-demand workouts courtesy of the iFIT subscription (NordicTrack has also included 40 built-in sessions).

It doesn’t fold down and disappear like some, but this is a flagship piece of kit you’ll not be wanting to hide under the bed.

Peloton Tread

Putting aside early recalls and tumbling share prices, the Peloton Tread is an ace treadmill and enjoys the same style of live classes and flawless production values as the firm’s bikes. The 23.8in HD touchscreen is exceptional and really pulls you into the group classes, while the controls are smooth. £2445 / onepeloton.co.uk

Echelon Stride

This use-your-own-tablet treadmill is for those moving on from their first Parkruns but with no intention of smashing out an Ironman. It has a large running area and more than enough speed to keep casual runners interested, though the 10% incline limit might have some hill-lovers craving more pain. £1399 / echelonfit.uk

NOHrD Sprintbok

You simply can’t outrun this manual treadmill. There are no settings, motors or chiselled coaches egging you on, just a pure running experience honed out of hardwoods. I
