What is this, a people-carrier but for elephants?

If you’re getting tired of standard SUV designs, why not go large? This luxury hybrid is a neat twist on an old theme – because Lexus has reinvented the minivan. The LM will come with up to seven seats, offering lots of space and lots of tech.

What’s under the bonnet?

The powertrain is a 2.5-litre mild hybrid, which can self-charge as you cruise around. As befits this premium brand, there’s a full suite of driver aids, which centres on the Lexus Safety System+. Parking and other manoeuvres can be made easier by Proactive Driving Assist, while Adaptive Cruise Control takes care of changing speed limits.

So what about that interior tech?

If you’ve been sensible and ordered the four-seater model, the Lexus LM delivers big on the tech front… and by ‘big’ we mean ‘huge’, thanks to a 48in HD widescreen display. That’s accompanied by a Mark Levinson surround-sound setup with 23 speakers, augmented by 14 hues of mood lighting.

Any other interior goodies?

How about a fridge? That means rear passengers can tap into a cold one on the road, while the airline-style seats can fully recline and the Lexus Climate Concierge ensures the temperature should always be just to your liking.
