Compromise on wallet-seepage, not on performance

ALTERNATIVELY…

There’s so much to admire about the OLED807 that it’s difficult to know where to start.

Perhaps we should begin with specs: it’s compatible with every HDR standard, including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Or maybe we should talk about the unique Ambilight feature, that system of rear-facing LEDs on the frame that fire light onto the wall behind in order to make the screen look bigger and the entire viewing experience more immersive. Maybe it’s best to start with the brilliant across-the-board picture performance the OLED807 is capable of – because whether you’re streaming a movie, watching some broadcast TV or playing a console game, the image quality is never less than thrilling.

Oh, we appear to have reached the end of this little write-up without even starting. So let’s just say the 55OLED807 is a great TV with which you’re bound to be delighted.

Remember when Mini LED was a premium technology commanding a premium price?

Well, if this Samsung is anything to go by, the tech is still excellent but somehow it’s become a lot more affordable quite quickly. This is a lot of high-performance telly for the money.

Because it’s a Samsung, of course, it goes without Dolby Vision HDR – and while that never stops being annoying, when a television is as capable as this one it’s easier to overlook. As well as the fancy backlighting, it’s got HDMI 2.1 across all four inputs, a variation on Samsung’s Object Motion Tracking audio system, and a Tizen interface that’s as good as any rival.

Most of all, though, it’s got tremendous picture quality. Bright, vibrant images are available here, along with rigorous motion control and low-light detail levels that are as impressive as anything around. There’s authentic value for money in this one.
