10 mind-blowing apple vision pro features

5 min read

Vision Pro isn’t just Apple’s first all-new product since the Apple Watch arrived way back in 2015 — it’s setting the stage for a whole new way of thinking about computers. Whether you’re turning your bedroom into a private cinema or transforming your living room into a wilderness retreat, here are ten features we can’t wait to try when it launches next year

1 3D MAKES A COMEBACK… AGAIN

3D video, the technology that absolutely refuses to die. The Vision Pro will mark its latest revival. Not only is Apple preparing 180-degree, 8K, 3D ‘Spatial Video’ versions of Apple TV+ programmes (starting with a Godzilla-starring Monarch: Legacy of Monsters show) optimised for the headset, but users will also be able to create their own 3D content. A dedicated button on the top of the headset will let you snap 3D photos and videos to your heart’s content, ready for playback on the Vision Pro’s dual screens.

2 SURROUND SOUND ON YOUR HEAD

Taking everything it’s learnt from its AirPods and HomePods audio devices, Apple’s Vision Pro will sound awesome too. This will extend to FaceTime calls too, where floating videos of your friends and family will feature positional audio as you move around their contact panes in the video calling app.

Unlike, say, the PlayStation VR headset, the Apple Vision Pro does away with controllers entirely. While the Vision Pro’s cameras and motion sensors will pick up the wave of a hand or the point of a finger, its pinpoint accuracy is determined by onboard eye-tracking. But even its handtracking is super advanced, with its sensors so sensitive and its cameras so numerous in their placement that it can pick up the pinch of a finger even if your hand is placed in your lap. On top of that, good ol’ Siri returns for voice-activated input, too.

4 FROM COUCH TO CINEMA (WITHOUT EVER LEAVING YOUR LIVING ROOM)

If you’ve ever dreamed of building a cinema room in your house, put the sledgehammer down. Turn on Apple Vision Pro’s Cinema setting and you’ll be able to create a screen as large as 100 feet wide right in front of your eyes, even if your living room is a fraction of the size. By virtualising the space around you, it’ll be like having an IMAX screen in your home — and a super sharp one at that, with Vision Pro’s 23 million pixels working out as the equivalent of a 4K TV per eye.

5 NEVER BUY AN EXTRA MONITOR EVER AGAIN

Apple fully expects that in time people will be using its Vision Pro headsets to get real work done as well as to entertain themselves. Using
