And Finally...

They say a pic is wor th a thousand words. What does yours say about your special moment? Here one reader shares the story behind her favourite photo

Dad and me

Ijumped into bed and nestled under the covers as my dad Jack tucked me in. ‘Do The Goon Show!’ I said. ‘Oh, all right then,’ Dad replied.

Then he launched into his brilliant rendition of a sketch from our favourite comedy show, complete with the silliest of voices. I burst into a fit of giggles. No matter how sad I was, Dad could always cheer me up. He was the loveliest, kindest, most funny man. I adored him.

As I grew up, we remained close. He always called me ‘the bairn’, even as I became an adult.

Whenever I brought home a boyfriend, he’d be incredibly stern.

‘They have to be good enough for my little girl,’ he’d say.

One day, after oversleeping and rushing to get the tram to work, I forgot to bring the cross stitch I normally did on the way. So I picked up a newspaper instead.

Inside, a dating advert for a fella named Paul caught my eye.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and back home later, I called the number and left a message.

Paul replied and we began dating, eventually moving in together. Thankfully, he and Dad got on well.
