Farke tips teen for England future...

LEEDS UNITED v

MILLWALL

Today, Kick-off: 3pm

LEEDS manager Daniel Farke has backed teen sensation Archie Gray to one day play for England.

The 18-year-old - great-nephew of club legend Eddie Gray - made his debut for the Whites on the opening day of the season and has already clocked up 40 appearances for the Championship promotion-chasers.

Gray received his first callup to the England Under-21 squad this week and Farke believes it is only a matter of time until the right-back earns full international honours.

“Archie is, without any doubt, one of the biggest talents in his age group in this country,” said Farke on the eve of this afternoon’s clash with Millwall at Elland Road.

“And if you’re one of the biggest talents then you have the potential to reach everything. For Archie, the sky’s the limit. He has represented his country at youth level and he obviously has the potential to do it at a proper level with the mature Three Lions.

“That’s definitely a fact, but it’s not so much about saying he will do it in two years, four years or six years.

“It’s not beneficial to put too much weight on the shoulders of these young lads. You have to live in the here and now because there are still many aspects where he can learn and improve. In this sport, you also need a bit of luck in terms of injuries.

“But yes - if he continues with this work ethic and professionalism, he has all the chance to reach everything that he wants.”

Farke’s side have won 11 of their last 12 Championship games and remain unbeaten in the league at home.

Victory by a two-goal margin would see them seize top spot from long-time leaders Leicester, who are playing at Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Leeds’ surge towards title contention has coincidedd with the return to form of striker Patrick Bamford, who at one stage looked to have no future at Elland Road.
