EFL COMMUNITY AWARDS 2024

The EFL revealed the divisional winners of their coveted EFL Community Awards 2024 at the House of Commons on Tuesday.

The accolades celebrate the very best in club community work and recognise commitment, innovation and impact from clubs and players during the current season.

West Bromwich Albion, Charlton Athletic and Swindon Town were chosen as the divisional winners of the EFL Community Club of the Season having demonstrated a variety of powerful, far-reaching community programmes in response to local need.

Judges were impressed by West Brom’s approach to addressing key issues through projects like ‘Go Local’, offering midnight football sessions during Ramadan and a rehabilitation scheme for stroke survivors.

In League One, Charlton led the way for their school project on the Isle of Sheppey – a high priority area for the Department of Education – and their innovative work to support the NHS, while Swindon were the standout in League Two.

The Robins demonstrated a commitment to continuously develop and improve an already well-executed portfolio of projects and activities, from helping refugees integrate into the local area to tackling loneliness.

As role models across the EFL, the 2024 winners of Player in the Community, sponsored by the PFA, were Sheffield Wednesday’s Will Vaulks in the Championship – the third time he has won the award – Portsmouth’s Marlon Pack in League One and Moreson in League Two.

Owls midfielder Vaulks, 30, won the award for his strong and supportive connection to the club’s community organisation work and his wider charitable commitments, including the Bluebell Wood children’s charity, and the role he played in executing The Baton of Hope relay for mental health awareness.

Pompey midfielder Pack, 33, has been recognised for his keenness to support the wider community of his boyhood club, his commitment to fan engagement, coaching in the community (including supporting the academy team in his spare time) and his dedication to oneon-one time with several fans in need of support and special treatment.

Shrimps defender Rawson, 27, was acknowledged for his ability to carry his influence on the pitch into his community work and spread his enthusiasm for the importance of player support into the first-team dressing room.

He has supported school projects, the Extra Time programme for the over 60s and at Christmas organised player and staff donations to buy presents for children at a local hospital.
