When increasing in pattern, do not work slip stitches at edge of work, instead work as stocking stitch.

BACK

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 106 (118:130:142:150:162) sts.

Row 1 (RS): K2, *P2, K2; rep from * to end. Row 2: *P2, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2. These 2 rows set rib. Cont in rib as set for 6 (6:6:7:7:7) cm, ending with WS facing for next row.

Next row: Rib to end, inc 1 (1:1:0:1:1) st and dec 0 (0:0:1:0:0) sts at end of row. 107 (119:131:141:151:163) sts.

Change to 4mm needles. Row 1 (RS): Beg with stitch 2 (3:4:6:1:2) of Chart A, work 7-st Repeat A 6 (7:8:9:9:10) times, work sts 14-26 once, work 7-st Repeat B 6 (7:8:9:9:10) times, end with stitch 38 (37:36:34:39:38). This row sets chart placement. Working 28-row rep as set on chart throughout, cont until work meas 43 (43:43:44:45:46) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

SHAPE ARMHOLES

Begin shaping as folls, AT THE SAME TIME continuing patt as set on chart until 28 rows have been repeated 5 times, then work rows 1-16 as set on Chart B once before working rows 1-4 throughout.

Work 4 (4:8:8:10:10) rows, dec 1 st at each end of every row. 99 (111:115:125:131:143) sts.

Work 9 (9:11:11:13:13) rows, dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll RS row. 89 (101:103:113:127:129) sts.

Cont without shaping until armhole meas 20 (22:24:25:26:27) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

SHAPE SHOULDERS

Cast off 8 (10:10:12:12:14) sts at beg of next 2 (4:2:6:2:4) rows. 73 (61:83:41:93:73) sts. Cast off 9 (11:11:-:13:15) sts at beg of next 4 (2:4:-:4:2) rows. 37 (39:39:41:41:43) sts. Leave these sts on a holder.

FRONT

Work as given for Back to **. Cont without shaping until armhole meas 11 (13:14:15:16:17) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

SHAPE FRONT NECK

Next row: Patt 36 (41:42:47:49:54), turn and leave rem sts on a holder. Cont on these sts only for first side of neck.

Work 4 rows, dec 1 st at neck edge of every row. 32 (37:42:46:49:54) sts.

Work 6 (6:6:8:8:8) rows, dec 1 st at neck edge of next and 2 (2:2:3:3:3) foll RS rows. 29 (34:35:39:41:46) sts.
