BLISSFUL SAPHIA

Debbie Bliss has added a fabulous new yarn to her range, called Saphia, which is a wonderfully soft blend of baby alpaca, Merino wool and linen produced in Peru. It knits up to a chunky weight on 8mm needles, and comes in a palette of 14 sophisticated shades.

Debbie has designed a range of knitting patterns to showcase the yarn, all with an easygoing style and smart stitch patterns. ‘Lourdes’ is a cowl-neck textured sweater with a modern high/low front and back, and ‘Nuno’ is a rollneck sweater with a textured stripe pattern. Cable designs include a yoked sweater, a shawl-collar V-neck sweater, a smart jacket and a honeycomb cable pullover.

The yarn costs £13.50 per 100m/100g, and pattern PDFs are £3.50 each.

COLOURFUL HOME

Scandinavian design duo Arne and Carlos have a new pattern book filled with bright, beautiful cushions inspired by Nordic textiles. Published by Rowan, Homeware has six cushions knitted in Rowan’s Norwegian Wool, and there’s a mixture of geometric stranded colourwork patterns and bold intarsia floral motifs - our favourite is the rose-patterned ‘Trine’ design. There’s also a pattern for a crochet blanket. E-book £6 from www.knitrowan.com

INTARSIA & FAIR ISLE STYLES

Head outdoors in style with the new range of patterns from Yorkshire yarn company Sirdar. The Coast & Country collection has relaxed sweaters and cardigans taking inspiration from the British countryside.

Colourwork projects include a long tartan cardigan, a seamless sweater with a Fair Isle yoke, simple striped designs, and an intarsia tank top with a stylised landscape pattern.

The ‘Woodland Walk’ colourblock poncho has a collar and a zipped neck opening, and the roll-neck ‘Hedgerow Sweater’ uses embroidery embellishments to enhance its intarsia patterning. Other projects include ribbed sweaters and a marled cardigan with a wide
