SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

GERMAN SHORT ROWS

The German short-row technique makes the turns almost invisible. Work stitches according to pattern and turn work where instructed. After turning, slip 1 stitch pwise with yarn in front, pull working yarn tightly up and over the needle thus creating a double stitch, bring working yarn into position and continue as indicated in pattern. The double stitch (DS) is later worked as a single stitch, knitting or purling the two strands together according to the pattern.

For more guidance on working German short rows, see our masterclass online at: www.gathered.how/knitting-and-crochet/knitting/german-short-rows-knitting
