HOME STYLE

Fill your home with bold, creative colourwork courtesy of Rowan’s new pattern collection, Geometric Homeware. It contains 10 projects using modern colour palettes, graphic motifs and a variety of techniques such as intarsia, stranded colourwork and mitred squares.

Larger-scale projects include Martin Storey’s ‘Gaudi’ blanket, which has bright geometric stripes; a cotton throw with a dynamic intarsia pattern; and ‘Stolzl’, a bed runner formed from woven garter stitch strips.

Georgia Farrell’s ‘Aalto’ bolster cushion has a mesmerising stripe pattern in four vibrant shades of Cotton Glacé, and Lisa Richardson has used mitred squares and stripes to great effect for her ‘Gropius’ cushion.

TAME THAT CHART!

Keeping track of your progress when knitting from a complicated chart can be tricky, so we love the magnetic pattern markers from Atomic Knitting. The fabric tape has long strips of magnets at either end, so it can wrap around the page or chart to mark your place. Cheerful styles include sheep, alpacas, cats, dragons, tigers, chameleons, and fabulous Pac-Man inspired motifs. From £5.95; www.atomicknitting.co.uk

Lace shawl kits

ELEGANT LACE DESIGNS

from Perran Yarns

We’re huge fans of the elegant colourways and luxurious yarn bases offered by Perran Yarns, and hand-dyer Steph Thornton has teamed up with some of our favourite designers to offer lovely knitting kits, too.

The beautiful lace shawl kits have caught our eye, and they include two elegant designs from Bronagh Miskelly: the ‘Sea Silk Stole’, knitted in a silk-seacell yarn; and ‘In The Kelp Garden’, a wrap with stripes of lace mesh, and borders of gathered stitches and nupps.

We love the Estonian lace edging on Sandra Nesbitt’s ‘Flower Row Crescent’, and Steph’s own designs including ‘Waterlap’ and ‘Tidal Wrap’. Another favourite is ‘Day Dreaming Wrap’ by Caroline Bawn, which has buttons on one end so it can be worn in a variety of ways. www.perra
