Dear Readers, Last week I suggested that some new faces would be joining us, and I couldn’t be happier than to announce that the bestselling author Jane Green will be joining The Lady. Every week she will be writing a wry, confessional column called A Novel Idea, about her life as a novelist. Will she get any writing done? Or will she decide to try out a new cake recipe instead? The fact that we are putting temptation in her way by launching our new series of collectable recipes carefully chosen from 130 years of The Lady Archive may not help. But then we all need to give in to temptation at some time. Like the possibility of buying the exquisite drop earrings on our fashion pages this week. Or maybe treating yourself to a minibreak in one of our chic French holiday lets advertised in our property directory – a far better choice than succumbing to the fantasy of running away to live in a leaking farmhouse in Normandy. If in any doubt, read what happened to our cover star Gemma Arterton when she brought the Posy Simmonds cartoon character, Gemma Bovery, to the big screen.
