Dear Readers Even the most reluctant theatre-goer will be able to hum a song from at least one musical. In my case I can recite almost every line from High Society, but this is mainly because I was brainwashed as a child – my mother was such a fan she named me Samantha after Grace Kelly’s leading lady. I know, but it could have been worse. Guess where my school friend Doris-Day got her name from? The festive season ahead is packed with musical chances to develop your fixations, some old shows, some new, and some on ice. For those who have never seen one of these frozen extravaganzas, Nutcracker On Ice at the Royal Albert Hall is captivating.
