Dear Readers, Tim James/Mabel Gray ♦ WIN: A Paul Mitchell luxury haircare bundle worth £250 and a stunning Bettys brush embroidery wedding cake worth £550 (right). ♦ HAIR: Create a 1970s look with our hair tutorial by vintage hair stylist Sarah Dunn. ♦ MAKE: Paul A Young shares his recipe for a chocolatey Valentine’s treat. Have you been concerned about your lack of a spiralizer? Do you worry that you really must have a special gizmo to cut your veggies into tiny strips and then pretend that they are not veggies at all but pasta? Well, here’s a tip: Mary Berry says don’t bother. You really don’t need one. Nor do you need to eat bunches of kale – ‘too strong and bitter’, she says. Or worry too much about forgetting things: ‘I can never remember what recipe is in which book’. As we might expect of the utterly adorable Mary, she urges us to keep things simple. Have meals with the family, teach children how to cook and never resist the chance to have a bucket-and-spade holiday – her favourite spot is Salcombe, in Devon. It’s also one of our favourites too, along with nine other idyllic British holiday places. And if that doesn’t provide inspiration enough, we have printed three of the world’s finest flower poems in the hope that you will pen one of your own and send it in… just the thing to cheer up our Spring Gardening special in March. Until next week, best wishes Sam Taylor
