Dear Readers Can it really be almost 24 years since the Absolutely Fabulous cast burst onto our screens? Despite their passion for drinking ‘Bolly’ by the vat load and alighting from taxis head first, Patsy and Edina (aka Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders) always manage to stay just the right side of naughty. Helped, of course, by the adorable, utterly gorgeous, ever young, 90-year-old June Whitfield as sensible Saffy’s granny. It’s difficult to tell whether her fellow nonagenarian, Winnie-the-Pooh, ever drinks Bolly, but we do know that he still writes his little ‘hums’, and chose this year to travel the long road from Hundred Acre Wood to Buckingham Palace to recite his special birthday poem in person to HM the Queen. I am delighted that we have been able to reproduce this adorable tale, complete with delightful illustrations, in the magazine this week. What could be finer than a new Pooh story for the summer ahead? Perhaps the chance to get outside with a posh Scotch egg-filled basket at one of our specially chosen picnic spots – sporting a pair of Stephen Webster’s diamond encrusted earrings.
