WALES Foxdale Guesthouse & Campsite, Pembrokeshire

Marloes Sands

Marloes is a small village situated in a less-visited part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in Wales, and Foxdale campsite is an ideal base to explore this beautiful area.

The current owners of Foxdale Guesthouse and Campsite bought this business just as Covid hit and they have big plans to further develop the campsite in the future.

The site currently offers 25 pitches suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes. All the pitches are on grass, but are not suitable for large units as the pitch size is 8m by 8m. Most pitches have access to 16A electric hook-up and some will require levelling blocks.

The site is dog-friendly and up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome per pitch at no extra charge.

The campsite itself is very peaceful and there are areas of shrubs and hedges. Picnic tables are dotted around and can be moved to pitches if you so desire.

The toilet and shower facilities are described as ‘basic’ as they are at the moment a portable type of construction, but are spotlessly clean. However, as we checked out of the site, the owners were preparing for the delivery of new, improved facilities – all part of their plans for the investment in this site. There is also a dishwash area, free fridge and freezer and a washing machine that can be used for a small fee.

It is a short walk from site into the local village, which has a pub serving food and a small village shop that was due to reopen at the time of our stay.

Marloes is on a peninsula and it is a short walk to the coast to the north and south.

A pleasant walk is to Marloes Mere and the café located at the wonderfully named Runwayskiln; a very cosy place to eat on a wild weather day! If the tide is out, it is a short but steep walk from the café down onto Marloes Sands.

If you enjoy walks and wildlife, you will enjoy this area.
