THE future location of Mason Grady is one of the biggest talking points in Welsh rugby – in more ways than one.

To start with, the 21-yearold three-quarter is out-ofcontract at Cardiff at the end of the season and has attracted the interest of Sale, Bath, Exeter and Saracens.

If he were to move over the bridge, he would become ineligible for Wales under the WRU’s 25-cap rule as he only has 11 caps.

There’s also the question of what his best position is, following his impressive cameo at inside centre in the clash with Italy last weekend.

Firstly then, what about his contractual situation?

It would be a big blow to Cardiff and Welsh rugby if he headed to England, such is the potent threat he poses with his power and pace. But his head coach at the Arms Park, Matt Sherratt, remains optimistic.

“I don’t think there’s ink on a contract yet, but I’m confident he’s staying,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll get a bit of clarity around that in the next couple of weeks.”

In terms of Grady’s positional future, there has been talk about him potentially being the answer for Wales at No.12 given the gain-line breaking impact he made after stepping into that role as a replacement against Italy.

Yet he won’t be moving there for Cardiff. Having played much of his previous rugby at outside centre, he has been employed on the wing by his region this season. It’s a switch which has worked well and he continued in that role for Friday night’s URC meeting with Glasgow at Scotstoun.
