Astrological travels Tessa worked on her zodiac project on her adventures!

ASTROLOGICAL TRAVELS

Since spring 2023, I was working on the astrology wheel pattern that featured in issue 331 (April 2023) while travelling. I started stitching on a flight to Miami and continued stitching every day in Florida for several weeks, much to the amusement of my American friends. I then went to New York, still stitching, followed by a Transatlantic crossing. This gave me eight days at sea to work on the project until I arrived in Rotterdam in The Netherlands. I kept stitching, including when I returned home on the Eurostar.

I was at home for a few days and then went to Spain for a month. I stitched every day, being careful to avoid getting sun cream on the aida! I still had a way to go but was leaving for a three-week trip around the Baltic, which meant I could complete the wheel during that time.

It’s been 60 years since I started crafting, but I always come back to cross stitch.

It’s very relaxing, portable, and always provides a talking point with other people. As I always travel alone, this is important. It also shows that cross stitch is suitable for passing the time on trains, planes, buses, and ships!

Vicki:You’re quite the globetrotter, Tessa, and we hope you enjoyed your travels! Cross stitching is a fab craft to take with you on the go and you proved it can be done no matter where you are. We love it!

Miniature makes

Miniature makes Mike stitched a smaller version of 334’s ‘Lighthouse Bookmark’

Eventually, I got around to issue 334 (July 2023)’s ‘Lighthouse Bookmark’ kit, and having finished I decided to copy it, but I think there was a storm at sea and it shrank! Won’t be trying that again unless there’s a prize at the end! You’ll notice that the green at the bottom of the tower, the sea and the sky are different as I was getting eye strain by then. The ruler next to it is just for you to see the scale!

Claire:This is an inventive spin on making a bookmark, Mike! Hopefully your future projects don’t shrink as small as this one!
