TOP 10 LOW-SPIN & DRAW DRIVERS

TG VERDICT Historically, Ping drivers favour forgiveness over all-out ball speed and distance, but our 2023 data highlights the LST as being a brute. The model was within 0.3mph of producing the fastest ball speed this year, and it posted data significantly better than our test averages for protecting ball speed and tightening dispersion. It was also our longest low-spin driver of 2023, at 282 yards.

TG VERDICT If it’s ball speed you’re after, the Stealth 2 family produced the fastest average ball speed of this year’s entire driver test. This model also gave our test pro his smallest carry distance drop-off (9 yards), the least amount of left-to-right dispersion (18.2 yards), and hit shots into the tightest shot area (163.8yds²) within the low-spin category. A very playable driver, in other words.

TG VERDICT If you swing driver like Jon Rahm or Xander Schauffele, lucky you – and the tour-focused Triple Diamond has your name on it. Our test pro reckoned that when hit from the middle, the model went like a rocket. Sadly, off-centre hits are savagely punished. A 59-yard left-to-right dispersion was well above our test average, so too an 888yds² shot area. A cracking driver... in the right hands.

TG VERDICT Srixon’s first generation ZX family chalked up 18 tour driver wins across the globe, so they’re clearly getting a lot right. As lovely, simple-looking players’ drivers go, the ZX7 MKII is right up there alongside the very best. The numbers it produced aren’t half bad, either. At this price, though, with a more carbon fibre-rich chassis on offer from Cobra for less, you will need to be a Srixon fan to buy in.

TG VERDICT Thanks to its strong performance and more traditional pear-shaped profile, the TSR 3 has been a serious hit among tour players as a reliable and consistent driver. With 0.7mph of ball speed and just over a handful of carry distance yards separating the TSR 3 from our fastest and longest models, we can see why decent players and consistent strikers would plump for this model.

TG VERDICT A cracking slice-busting driver with both Draw and Draw+ setting options. Expect 12-15 yards more draw bias than the G430 MAX, and an additional 7 yards of right-to-left shot shape (for right-handers) in the Draw+ set-up. A really good-looking driver with no massively closed face angle, and a wider, more pancake-shaped head to up confidence over the more neutral G430 MAX.

TG VERDICT Paradym brilliantly exploits the trend towards using more carbon fibre in modern-day drivers. Inside, there’s no titanium cage support, but a titanium face and backweight that are connected by nothing more than lightwe
