BEHIND THE QUILT: MAKING THE STARS

“My Starry Log Cabin quilt venture began after my first trip to the Quilt Show in Houston in 2018, which was a wonderful experience, I must say. The quilts, the classes, and the shopping were simply the best! I met the wonderful Deb Tucker, who inspired me with her Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star technique and trim-down tool. So, I made most of my stars using her method when I came home. Here is where I fast forward. I love starting new projects, so I filed away all of my lovely stars until early this year when, during a major tidy-up in my studio, I knew I had to finish the quilt. Sadly, I had mislaid my trim-down tool, so there was no way I could get the accurate finish I had with the first batch. I decided that foundation paper piecing was the next best method for me.” – Mairi Burns
