BEHIND THE QUILT SPRING COLOUR PROMISE

“Whilst writing my Essential Guide articles for Today’s Quilter, I discover many interesting patchwork blocks and can lose many hours playing around with adapting these and creating new blocks. I’m drawn to quite complicated blocks with tricky points, so many of these are best made with foundation paper piecing. For this quilt, I developed one of these blocks and paired it with a much easier block. The quilt uses just seven fabrics, which means it should be easy to select fabrics other than the ones I’ve used. Mine uses Tilda fabrics for the prints, mostly from the Bloomsville collection, with some Moda Grunge blenders for a restful contrast. My thanks go to Duncan Adams, the director of Sewing Direct (www.sewingdirect.co.uk), for getting me the Tilda Late Bloomer in Lagoon fabric I wanted for the backing, which proved to be so popular it was out of stock everywhere.” – Linda Clements
