BEHIND THE QUILTIN TRIBUTE TO

“My mum bought a gorgeous carpet a few years ago and I fell in love with it. Whenever I was visiting her in Geneva I would be on my hands and knees looking at the beautiful vases and arches, which would make my mum laugh.

“My mum knew I was going to make a pattern for Today’s Quilter magazine, I just wish she had seen it, unfortunately, she passed away too soon. Her carpet is now at my place and will be treasured.” – VÉRONIQUE DILIGENT

Notes

■ *You could use more to have a scrappier look.

■ ** Véronique used a fabric for the last border that complemented the fabrics she has gathered together for the quilt.

■ Véronique has an extensive collection of double pinks (pink on pink), so she could make her flowers in different fabrics from that in the pieced HST border. But you could use the same fabrics for the flowers and the half-square triangles.

■ When making the vase, the more pieces in different fabrics, the better it will look. Véronique started with a vase made from four (4) fabrics and ended up dividing the big sections into smaller ones. Exce
