A sealed deal

When Orvis wanted to build a new bag for boat fishing, it consulted leading driftboat builders in the US. The result is the Pro Waterproof Boat Bag, designed to fit neatly into available space, such as under thwart boards, without hampering an angler when they’re fishing or rowing. The 28-litre bag is made from 840-denier abrasion- and puncture-resistant ballistic nylon with a 0.1mm TPU coating on both sides to ensure waterproofing. It is seam-sealed with a proven YKK AquaGuard zip, which has an interior splash guard to stop water intrusion when unzipped. To prevent leakage, even the top-mounted tippet dispenser and fly patch have been welded to the fabric instead of sewn.

The rest of the exterior has been kept free of anything that might catch loose line. There are low-lying webbing handles at each end. The shoulder strap has large clip attachments, so it can be removed in the boat to further reduce obstructions.

A generous top opening allows plenty of storage for all the tackle, clothing and refreshments needed for a comfortable day afloat. The interior space has four solid divider panels — two short and two long — which allow you to alter the layout to meet your needs. Beneath the lid are two zipped pockets for essentials such as keys and a phone or an extra spool and leaders. Four rubber feet on the base prevent the bag from sliding.
