TESTING PROCESS
TO DETERMINE which air fresheners were best, we assessed them for ease of positioning – including if any impeded our view of the road – and how well the fragrance filled the interior. Value for money was also considered, as, of course, was how pleasant we found the scent of each freshener.
Our test car was equipped with manual air conditioning, and in order to ensure all products were tested fairly, we turned the fan to its middle setting and closed all the windows.

This air freshener impressed with easy installation and a scent (we tested Ice Chill) that filled the car’s interior quickly. It comes with two scented sticks that slot neatly into a chamber in the back, and it clips effortlessly into most dashboard vents. Although slightly bigger than other vent-mounted fresheners in this test, the Lynx didn’t interfere with the use of the vent itself.The scent is pleasant and not overpowering, and the Lynx is good value, with a claimed lifespan of 30 days.

For the kind of loose change you might have rattling in your car’s centre console, the Little Trees freshener is an easy-to-use option that smells great.The elasticated hook makes it child’s play to hang below the rear-view mirror, and while it feels flimsier than some of the other options in our test, its Black Ice fragrance filled the interior well. At this price, there’s little to fault.
