1 Monolith M518HT
$800 (around £666)
A capable surround system doesn’t have to dominate an entire room – or at least that’s Monolith’s mission statement for the M518HT 5.1 surround speaker package. This THX-Certified system includes five satellite speakers that stand just 16cm tall; despite the compact build, Monolith claims that these speakers have a low-frequency extension of 80Hz. Each speaker houses a 4.5-inch concentric driver with an inset 20mm silk-dome tweeter, with the .1 aspect of this system coming from an eight-inch down-firing sub driven by a 150-watt amplifier.
