INSIDER

1 JBL Bar 1300 £1300

This soundbar caught our attention at CES 2023 thanks to its modular form factor, Dolby Atmos support and whopping 15 channels of audio. With detachable rears and a wireless subwoofer, it can be used either in the conventional way, or in a more immersive, surround mode by detaching the battery-powered rears from the main bar. It features six upward-firing drivers and supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 3D virtual sound. It also features the highest number of audio channels in JBL’s soundbar line-up and includes support for Airplay 2, Alexa Multi-Room-Music and Chromecast. Available from mid-February.

Expect deep inky blacks and buttery smooth gameplay from that 120Hz OLED panel, as well as a lightning-fast response rate of 0.1ms. Tasty ingredients, all, for a no-compromise, mega-monitor gaming experience. Given that it uses a 48in screen, we do have to wonder where to draw the line between monitor and TV, but for now, let’s just enjoy it. There is still more information to come on this gaming display, including the port selection and the price, but that hasn’t stopped us getting excited about the initial reveal.
