Technics EAH-AZ40M2 £129

After launching two sets of wireless earbuds earlier this year, Technics is back to complete the hat-trick with the EAH-AZ40M2 noise-cancelling wireless earbuds; and it has Apple and Sony in its crosshairs with this one. Competitively priced and boasting “clear sound with a sense of range and depth”, these Mark 2 buds improve on the originals with noise cancellation and three-way Bluetooth multipoint. At £129, they undercut their AirPods 3 rivals while offering additional features – making them a serious proposition.

ViewSonic X2-4K $1600 (£TBC)

A projector made for the Xbox Series X for super-sized cinematic gaming? Sounds good to us. The ViewSonic X2-4K is (as the name suggests) a 4K HDR projector that is designed with the Xbox’s gaming features in mind… mostly. While it can’t do 4K/120Hz gaming, it is capable of 4K/60Hz or 1440p/120Hz and can project up to 120 inches for what should be a truly cinematic experience. It also has a claimed 4.2ms Ultra-Fast input, meaning frustrating lag shouldn’t impact your gaming experience.

Goldmund Eidos SACD £80,000

This reference SACD player from Swiss audio company Goldmund is a serious piece of enthusiast kit, as the hefty price tag may suggest. While it can play a wide variety of disc formats including (but not limited to) SACD, CD-RW and DVD-R, you can also hook it up to a PC via its USB input to play PCM 384kHz and DSD512 formats. The Eidos SACD is the product of lots of R&D, with the slimmed-down player featuring shielding for each internal component to minimise interference, while the soundcard is the same one found in other Goldmund reference systems. The silver lining here is that the Eidos SACD still undercuts the Reference model in both size and cost, making this (technically) the more accessible model.
