Five products to look out for this month

INSIDER

Yamaha CD-C603 – £TBC

A CD changer in 2023? We can’t quite believe it either, but it’s certainly a welcome sight. The CD-C603 from Yamaha can accommodate five discs, although you can also play music via WAV and FLAC audio files up to 24-bit/96kHz through its front-panel USB input. But let’s be honest; you’re getting this to play CDs, and that’s where the CD-603’s special feature comes in handy. Play X Change allows you to change discs while another continues to play, meaning no awkward pauses when you switch albums – something we wish our CD changers from 2005 did.

Sharp Tokyo DAB+ – £139

Sharp’s latest all-in-one hi-fi system is fuss-free, cheap and supports plenty of formats to play your music. As the name may suggest, it features a built-in DAB/DAB+ radio, but you can also pair your phone over Bluetooth 5.0, connect wired audio devices with the headphone jack or even hook up a CD player. It features a “modern, elegant and timeless” design according to Sharp and internally you will find a pair of two-way speakers. We are fans of these one-box audio solutions, with the Revo SuperConnect impressing us last year, so could this cheaper alternative offer a similar experience?

Elipson XLS 7 – £799

More vintage revival kit from Elipson, this time at a slightly more respectable price. The XLS 7 are the latest addition to Elipson’s collection of throwback speakers, joining the XLS 11 and XLS 15, and they are looking equally stylish. They should also sound impressive, as internally they feature two-way speakers with a bass-reflect design and a front-firing port, housing a 16.5cm midrange and a 22mm silk-dome tweeter. These standmount cabinets are ideal for those who haven’t got lots of space to spare but still want an eye-catching set of speakers.
