As we write these words, our Christmas celebrations are rapidly receding into the distance and the chills of January are well and truly with us. As you read them, however, that mirthless first month of the year is a thing of the past and it is only a matter of days until our next celebration: The Bristol Hi-Fi Show, which opens its doors once again on the 23rd of February.

Long-time readers of What Hi-Fi? will know just why the Bristol Show is a calendar highlight for anyone interested in consumer electronics, but novices to our world may not be aware that it is the UK’s largest and longest-running hi-fi show. Some 160-odd exhibitors – including leading industry names such as Naim, JBL, Audioquest, Cyrus and Sennheiser – will all be putting their best hi-fi feet forward, eager to show off their wares to the show’s many visitors.

Not only is Bristol the premier hi-fi display event in the country, where manufacturers and buyers alike gather to catch up on the latest developments in the industry, it is also invariably the launch pad for a swathe of new products and announcements. It is here, too, that visitors are given a unique opportunity to see – and hear – some of the latest equipment from the world’s leading hi-fi manufacturers and retailers.

Now celebrating its 35th year, the Bristol Show – which is organised by Audio T, the UK’s oldest independent specialist hi-fi retailer – is also known for its relaxed and accessible character. Not only can you get up close to the equipment on display, you can also talk to experts and manufacturer representatives about the hardware and how it might work in your system.

Exclusive deals

Of course, Bristol is also a great place to buy, and once again there will be plenty of exclusive deals and special offers for those wanting to take home more than the memory of a great day out. You might even leave with some free equipment because the show also includes numerous competitions offering the chance to win hi-fi products and services.

Bristol always serves up a number of last-minute surprises but, to give you a taste of what to expect this year, we have put together a round-up of some of this year’s highlights.
