Baby on board

Our grandson, Woody, is not yet 10 months old, but has discovered MMM. Also notice his appropriate sweatshirt. He also loves having a picnic in Grandma and Grandad’s campervan.

Two-wheel fans

Do any other MMM readers have information as to where we would be allowed to camp overnight at a motorcycle road racing event, where it is held over the two days of the weekend? We are newbies, having just purchased our first motorhome.

Going nutty about spare wheels

I picked up on the letter in the technical section from David Warren (June 2023, p117) with regards to buying a spare wheel.

One further issue, which is worthy of noting, is that the compatibility of the wheel nuts must also be checked.

In 2009 we purchased a steel spare wheel for our 2008 Dethleffs (which had alloy wheels) ready for a year trip around Europe. It was pointed out to us by our local tyre company that the nuts for the alloy wheel had a flat profile at the back of the head yet the steel wheel required a nut with a chamfered profile. If the spare wheel was needed, the nuts would not have fitted properly and the wheel would have been potentially unsafe.

We ended up buying a spare set of nuts from Fiat for a steel wheel. We kept the motorhome for 12 years and did 65,000 miles and never used it!

Surely the map should show the British Isles and not cut southern Ireland out. You have articles on touring in the Republic of Ireland and show the appropriate map.

The British Isles include Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The UK includes Scotland, England, Wales and and Northern Ireland. Britain consists of Scotland, England and Wales.

It would be nice to see the British Isles displayed completely on your maps.

ED The maps we are supplied with are for the UK, with the Republic of Ireland separate. In a recent feature on Ireland we stitched two maps together to show both parts on the map.

Bolt action

I had just replaced all four tyres on our Elddis motorhome, the first time since it was new in 2017, and we set off in early May from our home in the Highlands for Birmingham via Strathclyde Park, near Glasgow.

On day two, as we reached Preston on the M6, my wife experienced a horrific vibration through the steering wheel, so we left the motorway and investigated the cause. A
