Where There’s A Will, There’s A Lawyer: Using Solicitor Records For Family Research

15 May

w one-name.org/solicitorrecords/

Solicitors’ records are often considered inaccessible and difficult and so are overlooked by family and social historians, yet they offer great potential to find out more about our ancestors. In this talk from the Guild of One-Name Studies, genealogist Trisha O’Reilly dives into the types of records that can be found in solicitors’ collections, and draws from examples held in public archives in London. The case studies illustrate how such records can be used to deepen our understanding of the past, and the talk will also cover how to find solicitors’ records for your own research. Free, advance booking required.
