IN IT TOGETHER

I was hugely reassured by the statistics in The Great Life Rethink [April] to know that I was not alone in my thoughts and feelings during lockdown. Although I love my job as a teacher, changing career direction became a serious consideration for me, with options such as buying into a franchise and working in retail on the table. Thankfully, life is returning slowly back to normal and I am pleased to say that I still love my job. However, it was such a relief to read your article and realise that those feelings of discontent were not (necessarily!) a sign that I am going through a midlife crisis.

SUPPORT AND ADVICE

I wanted to thank you for shining a light on the difficult subject of dementia [June]. There are so many unsung carer heroes dealing with challenging behaviour. I work with an amazing young lad who looks after his elderly mother, and now we find ourselves at the stage of deciding whether or not my mum would be better off living with us. Knowing there’s a support network and hearing advice from people who have been there and done it was really helpful.

POSITIVE CHANGE

I was so uplifted to read Climate Heroines [May]. What these women are doing is inspiring, creative and positive. Women who make change happen are the sort of role models I want for my daughters. I will look out for seaweed products, and continue to reduce my car usage, turn down the thermostat, avoid plastic and so on.
