THE REAL ME

Actor and producer Sadie Frost, 57, lives in Wiltshire. She has four grown-up children, a cat called Earl Grey and a dog called Cherry

What are you like first thing in the morning?

I’m a morning person. I wake up early as I’m always really excited for the day. I have lots of energy and getting up at about 5am gives me a few precious hours before I start work. I’ll do a lot of meditating, yoga and some breath work, and then I’ll prepare for the day ahead.

What is your worst habit?

It can be a good and a bad thing, but I’m a list-making person. I schedule everything so I’m obsessed with timekeeping. So if someone asks me ‘What have you been up to?’, I’ll literally list everything, and my daughter tells me ‘That’s infuriating’. I have ADHD and I think it’s to do with that.

If you’re home alone, what do you do?

I love pottering, cooking and spending time with my mini dachshund Cherry and my cat, Earl Grey. I’ve been living in the countryside, and I have a little meditation and yoga room, so I keep my yoga mat and block out. I’ll work from home too. At the moment I’m working on a documentary about Twiggy, so I might be writing or editing too.

What makes you happiest in life?

Being connected to nature. I love spending time within a community, practising yoga. My kids have all left home now and you’re never prepared for the amount of time you’re going to have, so my dog Cherry makes me very happy.

What scares you most?

When I was a child I had nightmares about death and plane crashes. I fear being alone, and health scares with family and friends. My biggest fear is seeing people suffer.

Who is your greatest love?

My children. They are the most important things in my life and there’s nothing that compares to that love. Being a mother has been my longest relationship. I admire people who have met somebody and spent their life with them. I always wanted to be one of those people, but it hasn’t happened because I think I’ve evolved as a person. When it comes to men, they are a temporary thing in a part of my life – I don’t want to depend on anyone.

What are the best and worst things about ageing?

The best things are self-awareness, and knowing how to deal with your mental health and emotions. Being in touch and connected with your body feels great. The worst thing is you are never prepared for the changes in your body. When you’re younger you don’t understand the muscle mass will change in your body even if you are doing all the same
