What are you like first thing in the morning?

I’m definitely a morning person. I get really excited about the day ahead, particularly if I’ve got something fun on. I get up about 6am and I start with a glass of warm water to hydrate. Then I have my cup of tea in my special china mug.

What’s your worst habit?

Probably getting up really early and annoying everyone in the house! I sleep really well too, which irritates other people. As when you say ‘I’m a really good sleeper’, it divides the room dramatically, as most people don’t sleep very well. I get a lot of eye-rolls.

If you were at home alone, what would you do?

I love pottering with loud music on. I’ll move things around, from one corner of my dressing room to another. I love a day to myself, where I have lists of things to do. I might cook or go for a run.

What scares you most in life?

Snakes, but I’ve never actually met one. Otherwise, not making the most of my life. Life is so precious and I’m really aware of the gift that I’ve got. I’ve worked hard to cultivate the existence that I have and what worries me is that it will go – Ithink that’s a freelance-TV-presenter, working-class fear.

Do you have any regrets?

Probably, but I don’t dwell on them. I’m very forward-thinking. I’m sure I’ve upset people in the past, I’m only human, and I’m sure I’ll continue to make mistakes. But it’s OK, I’m all right with me.

What are the best things and worst things about ageing?

It’s only good. I have never felt better or [more] sure of who I am and what I want. I don’t think I’ve ever felt sexier, to be honest. I think women get better and better with age. The more confident you become and the less you give a s***, the more spectacular you are.

What do you want most in life?

I want to make a difference. Writing books and being on Woman�
