I’m reading w&h at the hairdresser’s and it says to write in, so here I am! As a senior sister on a busy paediatric ward, my team faces many challenges every day. To help look after them, I’ve initiated Wellness Wednesdays, when we sing a song at a staff huddle and I touch base with staff that are struggling with work demands. Once a month we have healthy snacks on Fruity Friday. I’m not sure what Monday will bring, but I’m always looking for new ideas – teamwork is dreamwork!

GREAT RECIPE
As my favourite tipple is a gin and tonic, I could not resist having a go at making the Gin and tonic lemon drizzle cake [September 2023]. As I made it near my son’s birthday, I decided to give it to him, but in the end we all had a slice and everyone agreed it was delicious.
HAIR HELP
Thank you for your best hair ever article [October 2023]. Just to add, for thinning hair, consider tape extensions – I tried them because of a disastrous haircut. A woman with alopecia next to me was delighted with hers too. It is possible to have light, non-damaging extensions that are cut with your normal haircut.

I’d like to thank Nadiya Hussain for such a positive approach to enjoying different cultures [November 2023]. I once visited a blended family who had a Christmas tree in their sitting room alongside a bunch of balloons with treats for Eid al-Fitr. If everyone were as broad-minded as that, our world would be a much happier place.
