WHAT AWEEK!

‘Jared Leto was my worst guest’

She may rub shoulders with fellow stars thanks to her hosting duties on The One Show, but that doesn’t mean that Alex Jones is always a fan. In fact, after filming her latest series, Reunion Hotel, in which she helps people reunite with individuals from their past, Alex, 46, realised she’d rather chat to a stranger than some of the biggest household names.

‘Everybody is always bowled over by, “Oh, we’ve got so and so,” on [The One Show], like Jared Leto – who, by the way, isn’t that amazing – and these people, of course, are incredible and super talented, but often the people who we met at the hotel were much nicer and have got a more interesting story to tell.’

It’s not the first time Alex has shared her disdain for actor Jared, 51, as she recently branded him ‘a bit of a d**k’, saying he was her ‘worst guest’ due to his ‘dismissive’ nature. Instead, she has found a passion for helping regular people. Her new show, which is filmed in Wales, sees the mum of three reunite long-lost family members, cancer survivors and communities who’ve raised money for sick children.

‘I’m awful with children’s stories. I’m tons worse [since having children] because you instantly put yourself in that position,’ Alex says, adding, ‘I’ve done two projects back to back, this one and Making Babies, where I go home and [my kids] are like, “Why are you holding me so tight, Mumma?” because of what you’ve seen in the day.’

According to Alex, The One Show has given her the perfect training for such emotional shows. ‘It has been a huge help in that way – that people seem to be comfortable in sharing their stories with me.’

Everyone but Jared, it seems…

The first episode of Reunion Hotel airs on BBC2 and BBC1 Wales at 8pm on Thursday 6 April

GWYN’S DAY IN COURT

Actor and wellness guru Gwyneth Paltrow has appeared in court after being accused of ‘dangerous’ and ‘reckless’ behaviour. Judges heard how Gwyn, 50, allegedly skied ‘out of control’ during a holiday on the slopes back in 2016, hitting 76-year-old Terry Sanderson. Now Mr Sanderson, who claims the accident caused ‘a brain injury, four broken ribs and other serious injuries’, is suing Gwyneth for £245,000. But the star claims that Mr Sanderson – who first attempted to sue Gwyneth for a staggering £2.5 million in 2019, before the claim was dropped – is actually in
