The celebrated comedian and writer takes on Woman’s toughest interview
She often has us in stitches on-screen with her one-liners and when we catch up with Katherine Ryan, she’s just as funny in real life. After moving from Canada to the UK in 2008 to embark on a comedy career, Katherine’s now a household name and has appeared on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and Your Face Or Mine. But how much do we really know about her? Find out as she answers our 10 burning questions…
1 Who is your celebrity crush?
Prince Harry. I think he has a beautiful, very striking presence. He does a lot of great things. I know he’s married but so am I – nothing’s ever going to come of it. I can’t say my celebrity crush is a single celebrity or people will think I’m actually trying to make something happen!
2 What is your dream job?
Midwife. But I don’t know if I’d be a patient, gentle midwife. I think I’d be bad cop.
3 What’s in your handbag?
Everything! Right now it’s got my breast pump because I’m expressing milk for my daughter. It’s also got loads of make-up in it because I did my make-up en route to work today. I’ve probably got some toys in there. And I’ve got a flyer from a nudist community that was given to me. Compliment received!
4 What was your first kiss like?
I would love to say that it was my husband, but it wasn’t. He was the second dude I lost my virginity to. My first kiss was in a movie theatre when I was 13. It was packed so we had to sit at the front and he just started kissing me. I was mortified. He kept his mouth open the entire time and it was really awful. He slobbered and I couldn’t wipe it off, so I had to watch the rest of the movie with his drool all over me.
5 Have you ever broken the law?
When I first came to the UK, I said my dog was a service animal and I brought him in the cabin. I felt terrible about it, but now everyone does that!
6 If you were invisible for the day, what would you do?
I would sneak into Britney Spears’ house and find out what’s really going on!
7 Weirdest fan experience?
There was a man who brought me a rose, I was smelling this rose and holding it. Then he DM’d me photos of himself getting romantic with the rose, if you know what I mean. I threw it away immediately.
8 What was your last argument?
It was a paren
