John Lewis used a giant singing plant in its Christmas advert this year, but these retailers turned to the A-listers for some help

Last Christmas she was the Countess in the Sainsbury’s advert, but this year she’s appearing for Debenhams. This Morning’s Alison turns up the glitz and glamour alongside fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, presenter Lisa Snowdon, reality TV’s Sophie Habboo and social media stars Sophia & Cinzia and Brookie & Jessie as they invite viewers into a starry winter wonderland.

Graham Norton

Waitrose put on a party we wish we’d been invited to – complete with delicious food, free-flowing fizz and a special appearance from Graham. The talk show host said, ‘What a treat it was to be invited to such a fun party and to feature in this joyful Christmas campaign.’

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Singer-songwriter Sophie is one of several stars to be part of Marks & Spencer’s advert this year. Out-takes recently caused controversy when images of burning red, silver and green party hats were said to reflect the colours of the Palestinian flag, amid the Israel-Hamas war. M&S vehemently denied the claims.

Michael Bublé

Asda employed Mr Christmas himself for its festive advert this year. Employees start to hear the all-too familiar tune of It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, and out pops Michael, who stars as the supermarket’s chief quality officer. The ad’s title is ‘Pop
