Firm skin is something we all associate with youth, but while you might be working up a sweat in the gym, when was the last time you exercised your face? Move aside expensive injectables – face yoga could be the answer to an age-defying appearance.

‘Just as your body needs exercise to stay toned, the 57 muscles in the face and neck also need to be exercised. As they become stronger, the skin attached to the muscles becomes taut, reducing lines,’ says face yoga expert Danielle Collins.

Need to revitalise your body, mind and soul? Try this quick technique to awaken your face…

✱ Start by breathing deeply, then gently open and close your eyes.

✱ Close your right eye and cover it with your right hand, lightly touching your eyelid with your fingers.

✱ With the right eye still closed and covered, start blinking with your left eye. Imagine the eyelashes are drawing the eye lid down and back up – your eyelid is just following the movement of your eyelashes, so you don’t feel any tension.

✱ Now touch the thumb and fingers on your left hand together while they are lightly placed on the left side of your forehead, then open your fingers out slowly to gently massage the area.

✱ Repeat for a couple of minutes from the top of the exercise, then switch sides.

1 Blowfish

Puff both cheeks full of air. Hold, breathing through your nose. Tap one cheek for 30 seconds, then the other.

2 Kiss the sky

Tilt your head slightly backwards and make a kissing sound for 30-60 seconds.
