CAT DEELEY’S This MorningBACKLASH
It’s been just over three weeks since Cat Deeley took the helm at This Morning but after a frosty welcome from fans, is the star reconsidering her move? Cat, 47, faced a baptism of fire from viewers, with many saying they had to ‘switch over’ and that the new host is ‘unbearable’. One wrote, ‘Can Cat Deeley please shut up. Sorry can’t watch any more@thismorning,’ while others noted her ‘irritating’ habit of interrupting. ‘Sorry to say Cat Deeley is not the right person to host… She talks over people and interrupts, perhaps it should be called the Cat Deeley show,’ another viewer said.
However, other fans suggested that it was just new-girl jitters and once she’s settled in, the presenter will be fine. ‘Cat needs to get past those nerves, she’s trying too hard,’ one said. Another shared, ‘I think she could be loved but she needs to turn it down a touch.’
It arguably wasn’t helped when some viewers suggested that GMB’s Kate Garraway should have got the gig and Kate liked the comments!
Cat recently left behind a glamorous life across the pond, which saw her earn £43,000 per episode to host So You Think You Can Dance? And while her current gig sees her pocket an annual salary of £555,000, is the hefty pay packet enough to put up with the haters? Only time will tell.
GIOVANNI: ‘I WON’T LEAVE STRICTLY’
Pro dancer Giovanni Pernice, 33, has insisted that he will return to the BBC competition – despite the rumoured feud with former dance partner Amanda Abbington. When quizzed on whether he would leave the show, Giovanni, who joined Strictly in 2015, said, ‘Why would we do that? We love our jobs. It’s one of the best shows.’
His admission comes after he was embroiled in rumours of a row with Amanda, 52. Last year she quit the show due to ‘personal reasons’ and ‘demanded’ CCTV footage from rehearsals, before dropping the request. Addressing Amanda’s exit for the first time, Giovanni said, ‘It’s a shame because, in my opinion, she could have gone all the way.’
