Cat Deeley has only been fronting This Morning for a month, but could there already be a replacement waiting in the wings for her in the form of Kate Garraway?

Kate and Cat’s co-host, Ben Shephard, have been friends for years, having worked on breakfast TV together for decades after they both joined GMTV in 2000.

There’s no denying the pair have on-air chemistry, with Ben once confessing he ‘adores’ Kate. And with fans seemingly not warming to Cat and instead calling for Kate to co-host, could they be reunited?

Calls for Kate

Ben, 49, and Cat, 47, took the helm of This Morning in March, after months of stand-in presenters having to hold the fort following Holly Willoughby’s exit in October and Phillip Schofield’s last May. But it seems viewers aren’t overly impressed with their new duo and think that Kate would have been a better match for Ben to front the hit daytime show with.

‘Ben has settled into the TM team nicely but he’s been partnered with the wrong person! Come on This Morning you know it should be Kate Garraway on the sofa with Ben Shephard,’ one fan said, while another commented, ‘Sorry would much prefer Ben to host with Kate Garraway.’

It would arguably make sense for Kate and Ben to host the show given their history, which includes presenting Good Morning Britain together for the past decade. And Kate, 56, could certainly be up for it, as when she posted a farewell tribute to Ben on Instagram ahead of his move to This Morning, she liked one fan comment that read, ‘Should be Ben and Kate presenting This Morning,’ and another one which said, ‘Please go to This Morning with him. He needs his Kate by his side. You work so well together.’ And it seems this particular fan could be right about Ben needing Kate, as in a recent episode of This Morning, Ben even called Cat ‘Kate’. Awkward!

Backlash for Cat

A couple of weeks ago, Woman reported how Cat had faced a baptism of fire from viewers just weeks into her new role, with many saying they had to ‘switch over’ and that the new host is ‘unbearable’. One wrote, ‘Can Cat Deeley please shut up. Sorry can’t watch any more @thismorning. Bad choice,’ while others commented on her ‘irritating’ habit of interrupting guests. ‘Sorry to say Cat Deeley is not the right person to host This Morning.
