KATE AND SUSANNA New rivalry
Are tensions are set to rise between Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid as the Good Morning Britain presenters battle it out for a new prime-time TV gig?
The iconic show This Is Your Life, which saw celebrity guests honoured with a big red book charting their life in the spotlight, is due to be revived after more than two decades off air, with Kate, 56, and Susanna, 53, said to be in the running to host.
A TV insider shared, ‘There is a reason This Is Your Life aired for so many years – as a format, it is perfect. It’s warm, entertaining and interesting.’ They added, ‘Since it last ran properly in 2003 many more celebrities are now worthy of the big red book treatment. It was always such an honour to appear, bosses are confident a whole new generation of stars will embrace a surprise visit from the team.’
The source went on to explain, ‘Discussions are underway with a number of potential hosts – with a view to getting work underway later this year.
‘A warm, professional interviewer like Susanna or Fiona [Bruce] are seen as the safe hands to steer the next generation of the show.’
Meanwhile Kate Garraway is also hotly tipped for the role, and she’s no stranger to interviewing high-profile stars on the ITV daytime show and Life Stories.
Let’s hope that things don’t get too tense backstage at GMB as friends and colleagues Kate and Susanna may end up going head-to-head.
HANNAH FOR STRICTLY?
It may be months away but the 22nd series of Strictly Come Dancing is already sparking excitement, with whispers about contestants rife. Now it seems Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham could be one of the stars set to appear. A source revealed the actor, 49, is a favourite with BBC bosses. ‘Hannah would be an incredible signing for Strictly this year and so far things are looking very positive,’ they revealed. ‘She loves the show – she has heard so much about it from Anton [Du Beke] and [his wife] Hannah, as she is a close friend to both.’ The insider added, ‘[She] is keen to do it. It’s just a question of whether or not it’s possible to fit it into her schedule – obviously it’s a very big commitment and she is incredibly in demand at the moment.’
