The newly single presenter is ready for a summer shape-up

Ruth Langsford has always been open about the fact that she’s struggled with weight loss since the menopause hit, admitting, ‘These days I put on weight much more easily.’ Her refreshing honesty is perhaps the reason she is so relatable to so many. Now, in the throes of a divorce, Ruth will undoubtedly be looking to her future which, just a year ago, looked so different.

Last month, it was announced that the presenter and her husband, Eamonn Holmes, were going their separate ways after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together. Column inches were full of speculation that Eamonn had been seeking comfort from a woman who is in her 40s and that Ruth was understandably ‘devastated’.

Now, as the dust settles and Ruth tries to piece her life back together, the star is putting on a brave face. Pictured leaving her hair salon in Weybridge, she looked positive, in fantastic shape and ready to put the past firmly behind her. A revenge body incoming? Oh, we do hope so. woes. The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him, but if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split.’

Ruth has often shared her dog walks with her followers and is enthusiastic about getting in her 10k steps a day. She recently said, ‘I enjoy circuit training and I love walking. Last summer, I did Couch to 5K.’

And last autumn, Ruth took part in an Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk – with Maggie, of course! She even has a mini trampoline at home so she can fit in a workout at her convenience and trains with her PT, Fit with Frank.

Positive attitude

Ruth, who took an extended break from Loose Women following the divorce news, is candid about her body-image battles, recently admitting, ‘I’ve never really had huge problems with weight gain, so I’ve been very lucky in my life. I like good food so I eat well and I cook, but the weight gain and the shape change in menopause I’ve really struggled with and I try really hard.’ She added, ‘Everybody talks about body positivity and to love yourself, but sometimes I look in the mirror and I don’t love myself. I look and go, “I’ve got no waist any more, I’ve got thick, fat knees.” I’ve thickened up as my mum would say and I don’t love it.’
