After fears about her health, Coleen Nolan explains why she’s had to take drastic action…
As a Loose Woman, it’s practically part of Coleen Nolan’s job description that she has to be open about her personal life - after all, isn’t it part of the Loose Women panel’s charm? And recently, Coleen Nolan opened up about her health and weight, revealing, ‘Every season is like a different me. I’ve done everything. And I always ended up being back to where I was at the beginning.’
The 57-year-old then proceeded to share her thoughts on her current diet, adding, ‘[This time] since it’s been about health, I’ve dropped a lot of weight. I don’t ever count calories, it’s not a diet, it’s about health.’
Mum of three Coleen has lost two stone after turning to a vegan diet. ‘I think I’ve probably dropped a couple of stone. I was 16 on top, but now I can get into a 14. With trousers, I was an 18-20 before, and now it’s more 14-16,’ she explained. ‘The weight loss was just a bonus. Me going vegan was never about losing weight.’
The Nolan sister has been open about her struggles with her weight in the past, recently admitting, ‘For people who have never experienced what it’s like to look at a chocolate bar and put weight on – which is me – it’s hard for them to understand.’
In fact, one catalyst for her lifestyle overhaul was Coleen’s fears she’d end up in a mobility scooter. ‘My back and hips were bad. It was hard work getting off the sofa,’ she admitted, adding, ‘I genuinely thought if I didn’t put a stop to it right away, I’d be in a mobility scooter by the time I was 50.’
Coleen’s family health has also been on her mind. In 2020, her sister Anne, 71, was diagnosed with breast cancer and sister Linda, 63, diagnosed with incurable liver cancer.
The Nolan sisters also tragically lost their sibling Bernie to breast cancer in 2013.
