Want to fit into your favourite dresses and high-waisted jeans and actually feel comfortable – even after a three-course meal? This plan will help you to lose weight safely and steadily and get your waist in shape for the upcoming party season. It will create opportunities for outfits and events that you may previously have avoided due to low confidence or the risk of a tummy ache caused by too-tight clothing.

HOW IT WORKS

1 Our beat-the-bloat diet contains around 1,300 calories a day. Combine this with being active for at least half an hour every day and it will pay off!

2 We’ve included lean proteins that will curb your appetite, along with fibre and potassium-rich vegetables, fruit and whole grains to help improve digestion as well as fighting water retention.

3 Choose one breakfast, lunch and dinner from our selection, mixing up your choices as much as possible from day to day. You can have one snack a day, too.

4 Stick to calorie-free drinks such as water and herbal tea – or the occasional diet drink – as much as possible. But you’re OK to have semi-skimmed milk in three to four cups of tea or coffee a day.

Breakfasts

✢ 1 boiled egg with a slice of wholemeal bread spread with a level tsp of butter. A 150ml glass of pink grapefruit or orange juice.

Porridge made from 40g oats, 210ml semi-skimmed milk and 15g raisins.

✢ ½ a can of reduced-sugar-and-salt baked beans on a slice of wholemeal toast, topped with 2 small slices of avocado.

2-egg omelette (1tsp oil to cook) filled with baby spinach, red pepper and 25g mature Cheddar cheese.

✢ Chop 1 small slice of malt loaf into cubes and swirl through 150g of full-fat Greek yogurt with 1 chopped peach.

2 slices wholemeal toast spread with 1tsp butter and 1tsp Marmite each, plus a bowl of mixed berries.

BOOST THE BENEFITS

✢ Avoid talking too much while eating – you’ll take in air that can bloat your stomach.

Hide the salt cellar. Too much sodium from salt encourages our tissues to hold on to water, which in turn can cause puffiness and extra pounds due to fluid retention.

✢ Try a probiotic like Probio7 Original (£14.50 for 40 capsules, Holland & Barrett), which may reduce bloating due to an irritable bowel.

Take time over your meals and chew your food really well – hurried meals and eating on the run causes digestive problems that can exacerbate bloating.

Lunches
