She’s been on our screens for nearly 40 years and brings a little sunshine to our mornings with her eponymous breakfast show, Lorraine, but how much do we really know about the star? The presenter, 63, lives in Surrey with her husband, Steve, and their dog, Angus. The couple have a grown-up daughter, Rosie.

1 Favourite item in my wardrobe…

My black Bonmarché trousers. I’ve got three pairs of them; I’m wearing one pair, one pair is hanging up and there’s another pair in the wash. I always say if you find trousers that fit, buy three pairs and you will not regret it, they will last you about 10 years.

2 Reality show

I’m not a huge fan of reality shows, but I’ll admit I do like SAS: Who Dares Wins and Below Deck.

3 Off-duty look

It’s all about feeling comfortable. I don’t wear that much make-up off air – I’ve still got mascaras from 20 years ago, which I know you’re not supposed to have! My make-up bag is like an antique. When I’m not working on the telly, if I’m writing or doing research, it’s very casual.

She spiced up our tellies that day!

4 EMBARRASSING MEMORY

I was on air talking to the Spice Girls and they gave me their shoes to wear – you know their big shoes. I did a kick in them and accidentally showed my underwear. Luckily I was wearing underwear, and double lucky – it was brand new from Marks & Spencer!

5 Favourite song

It’s called Careful by a Scottish artist called Horse McDonald. She’s become a really good friend. It’s a beautiful song about love and relationships and it’s from the heart.

6 Gift I’ve received

My penguin! Not a real one, Steve bought me a five-foot tall statue for my 40th that sits in the garden, facing south. I love it!

7 Romantic memory

Probably when Steve took me on our first date. He took me to see Dundee United play against Hearts and it’s when we realised that yep, this is it. We’d been friends for a year and then he took me to the football and for a meal afterwards.

8 HOLIDAY DESTINATION

I’ve got three! Orkney if you’re talking about somewhere in Britain, Singapore and then Antarctica.

All smiles: Steve and Lorraine

9 Movie

All About Eve with Bette Davis. The dialogue and writing in that film is just astonishing.

10 Childhood memory

Going on holiday wit
