Just a few weeks ago, fans were questioning whether everything was OK between Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford after noticing that they rarely post about each other on social media any more. One even commented, ‘Sure they have split.’ Now, Eamonn has broken his silence, suggesting that he is unhappy.

Posting a selfie on Instagram, Eamonn – who has been battling chronic back pain for years now – wrote in the caption, ‘Don’t know why I’m smiling,’ to which a concerned fan commented, ‘You’re a happy person and a lot to be happy for, so smile.’ Eamonn then replied, ‘u would be surprised at the things that conspire to make me unhappy,’ followed by a sad-face emoji. It seems the presenter is struggling, so what’s making him so fed up?

A DIFFICULT TIME

Eamonn had a tough year last year, so it’s understandable he’s not feeling his best. The broadcaster, 63, had been suffering with chronic back pain, for which he had an operation, then he fell down the stairs at home and broke his shoulder shortly afterwards. And in November, Eamonn’s beloved mum, Josie, sadly passed away. At the start of this year, Eamonn admitted that 2023 ‘couldn’t get any worse’ than last year, and Ruth also admitted it had been a ‘difficult time.’

Adding to Eamonn’s woes, on Valentine’s Day, during a discussion with his temporary GB News co-host and former Loose Women star Saira Khan, Eamonn admitted he and Ruth had no plans for the big day, and hadn’t even bought each other a card because Ruth ‘isn’t romantic’.

‘It’s not me, I am romantic, it’s her who is not romantic,’ he said. He added, ‘I’ve got lots of other cards from lots of other people.’ This may not have gone down well with Ruth, who recently referred to herself as ‘the most jealous person on the planet’. After Linda Robson described Eamonn as a ‘woman magnet’ Ruth said, ‘If I was somewhere and I thought, “She’s been coming onto my husband a bit, she’s been talking to him a bit too long,” I come over and go, “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met, I’m Eamonn’s wife.”’ Showing off a fake grin, she added, ‘With that face.’
