Judy has made no secret of the fact she doesn’t like the fame game. She once said, ‘I don’t want to be relevant. I like a peaceful inner life. I appreciate not having to worry about ratings, the stress of hoping that each day, each programme works out.’
In contrast, Richard seems happiest when he’s broadcasting, saying, ‘I like being on telly. I’m not seeking another huge career, we’ll see what happens, but I enjoy it.’ While Judy has explained, ‘I feel differently to Richard. The only legacy is family for me, and always will be – and it’s love.’ But with Richard determined to continue and Judy shying away from the limelight, can the much-loved pair find a happy compromise?

With Richard Madeley taking a long break from GMB after being branded ‘disgusting’ and ‘vile’ by viewers, and Judy Finnigan admitting she worries about the financial crisis, could the atmosphere at home be close to breaking point for the showbiz couple?

Richard, 66, has said that Judy, 74, gets ‘fed up’ with only speaking to him for weeks on end. Meanwhile, Judy confessed to feeling ‘sad’ when daughter Chloe, her husband James Haskell and their baby Bodhi left their house after living with them for four months, with Richard admitting, ‘Judy and I are heartbroken.’ So are the couple struggling now it’s just the two of them at home alone?

BUDGET-CONSCIOUS JUDY

Despite the pair apparently being worth millions, it seems Judy is feeling the misery of the cost-of-living crisis. Speaking about how summer fashions are changing, she said, ‘I’ve been fishing out flowery frocks from the back of my wardrobe, they look so cheering after months of black and grey. Except the fashion computer says no. The new colour palette is “dark and sexy”, the style is tailored, not wafty.’ She added, ‘Who are they kidding? Don’t they know there’s a cost-of-living crisis? I’m not buying a new summer wardrobe.’
