As the star contemplates getting older, she’s been feeling down in the dumps

Judy and Richard are on their own again

It seems that life has been getting on top of Judy Finnigan lately, as the telly star turned author has revealed she’s feeling low. Judy admitted that the past few months of bad weather had been getting her down, saying, ‘[The weather] is one reason we’re [all] feeling so rotten at the moment.’

The star – who has previously said that she feels ‘old and faded’ – has clearly been contemplating ageing too as she heads towards her 75th birthday later this month. Judy revealed she and husband Richard had been thinking about whether they’ll make any practical changes as the years tick by. She revealed, ‘The next big talk on [our] list may not be the final one, but it’s an acknowledgement that it’s getting closer. It’s the “big plan” for your old age, when you decide what to do with the rest of your lives and, crucially, where you should live.’

LIFE CHANGES

At the moment, Judy shares a gorgeous Hampstead mansion with her husband of 36 years, Richard Madeley, 66. But recently Judy has been pondering a big life decision, as she asked, ‘Hopefully I’ve still got a good way to go yet. But no point putting it off, it’s time for a “conversation”. So… should we downsize?’

Could the mum-of-four’s low mood and contemplation about the future be being fuelled by missing her family? The star has made it clear she misses her daughter Chloe, who moved into the family home with her husband James Haskell just before the birth of their daughter Bodhi in August and stayed for several months. Judy admitted she’d been ‘hit by an acute case of empty nest syndrome’, when Chloe, James and Bodhi moved back into their own home. Meanwhile, Richard has admitted Judy often gets ‘fed up’ when she only has him to speak to.

Describing the time before Bodhi arrived, Judy said the house was full of life as Chloe went through a ‘bout of extreme nesting’, ‘filling it with baby stuff until her dad and I were virtually relegated to our bedroom’.
