TV presenter Laura Hamilton fills us in on the things she loves most

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Former children’s TV host Laura Hamilton has warmed up our afternoons as a presenter on A Place in the Sun for over 10 years, but what makes the 41-year-old mum of two feel warm and bright? We chatted to her exclusively to find out.

1 Favourite childhood memory

Going camping in Cornwall with my mum and dad growing up. Big groups of kids from the campsite would get together and play these big rounders tournaments and they were so much fun. I made friends from all around the country on those holidays, and I still hear from some of them occasionally on social media now.

2 Way to unwind

Probably listening to music. I love scented candles and I’ve always got them burning in my house. I’ll light some of those and listen to music, with a log fire burning if it’s cold.

3 Tipple

A nice glass of red wine, although I’ve just signed up to do the London Marathon next year so I’ve decided to stop drinking until after I’ve done it. I’m pretty scared but I’m doing it for the children’s charity WellChild, so I’m focusing on the reasons I’m doing it and I know that will drive me on.

4 Meal

5 TV show

Funnily enough, even though I’m a presenter I don’t really watch a lot of TV, but I did love My Mum, Your Dad. It was so good. I’m usually more into music than TV but I thought that was brilliant.

6 Dessert

Banoffee pie. My mum used to make it when I was young and I love it – and it’s one of your five a day because it’s got bananas in it!

7HOLIDAY DESTINATION

That’s very, very difficult to answer but I would say one of my favourite places in the world and the one place I can switch off is in the Maldives. I am also a massive skier and there’s nothing better than skiing down the mountain, listening to music while you feel that fresh mountain air in your face. It’s hard to choose between those two.

8 Gift

One of my most memorable presents was when my parents bought my brother and me a desktop computer for Christmas one year when we were kids. It was such a shock. The internet didn’t even exist then, but it came with a CD-ROM that had an encyclopaedia on it. We had no idea it was comi
